When a complete report on a research project is required, the following outline should be used

 1. Title
  • A complete and concise identification of the project
  •  2. Abstract
  • A summary of the main points of the project. The five questions that you will answer are: what you did, why you did it, how you did it, what you found, and what it means.
  • The length will be less than 250 words.
  • It is written last but inserted after the title.
  •  3. Introduction
  • The purpose of the study is clearly stated.
  • Background information (both on­line and off­line -<research) is provided. Examples include: description of the -8parameter(s) tested and effects of pollutants on humans and wildlife.
  • The hypothesis is clearly written as an "If/then" statement.
  •  4. Materials:
  •  A list of everything used in the investigation, including -*quantity and measuring units, is included.
  •  5. Procedure
  • Each step of the procedure is clearly outlined so someone could duplicate your work
  • Extra details, explanatory notes and drawings are added when necessary.
  •  6. Data & Analysis
  • All data is placed in a table or another appropriate format
  • Date and time are noted for each data collection day.
  • Graphs of the data are provided.
  • Sample calculations are included
  • Analysis of data/interpretation of graphs are included.
  •  7.Conclusion
  • Expected outcomes and actual observations are discussed.
  • Conclusions are clearly the result of analysis of the data collected.
  • Errors are noted.
  • Possible modifications are noted (this is not optional).
  • Further study suggestions are offered, if appropriate.
  •  8.Works Cited/Consulted
  •  A list of pertinent resource material
  •  9.Acknowledgments
  •  Credit given to persons and institutions that helped or -advised.
